How SmartPrep writes, checks and corrects its practice questions: syllabus-based original questions, independent answer checks, and a public corrections process.

SmartPrep exists to give students in Pakistan accurate, exam-pattern practice for free. This page explains how our questions are written, how they are checked before publishing, and how we fix mistakes.
What we publish
- Original question sets written for SmartPrep, such as MDCAT Sets 2–5 (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Logical Reasoning) and the SAT, TOEFL, PTE, UCAT, Duolingo and O/A Level sets.
- Official sample papers (for example HEC and BFAP samples) with their published answer keys, clearly labelled.
- Study guides and tools we build ourselves, such as the MDCAT syllabus page and the MDCAT aggregate calculator.
- Practice collections compiled from publicly available past papers. These are provided for convenience and are clearly separated from our original sets.
How original questions are written
- Every set starts from the official syllabus of its exam (for MDCAT, the PM&DC uniform curriculum) and covers each chapter broadly instead of repeating one topic.
- New sets are compared against everything already on the site so they test new facts and angles rather than rewording existing questions.
- Questions are drafted with the help of AI writing tools and then put through the checks below; nothing is published straight from a draft.
- Each question has exactly one correct option and an explanation of why it is correct.
How questions are checked before publishing
- Format and duplicate checks: every option set is checked for repeats, and every question for near-duplicates of questions already on the site.
- Calculations: every numerical answer is computed in code, and wrong options are based on typical mistakes rather than random numbers.
- Independent answer check: every question is answered again, separately, without the answer key. Where that answer differs from the key, the question is re-examined by hand and fixed or removed.
- Ambiguity check: questions where two options could reasonably be defended, or where the answer depends on a disputed rule, are removed.
- Syllabus check: content outside the exam syllabus is removed.
Quality reviews of existing content
We also audit older content. In November 2026 we re-checked an older MDCAT question bank in the same way and hid 588 questions that were ambiguous, badly formatted, duplicated or outside the syllabus.
Corrections
If you find a wrong answer, a typo or an unclear question, please tell us through the Contact page or at hello@smartprep.pk. We review every report and correct the question on the site.
Independence
SmartPrep is not affiliated with PM&DC, HEC, any university or any testing body. Exam names are used only to describe what a practice test prepares for. Always confirm dates, patterns and rules with the official body.
